What is the Tesla Home Batter?
The Tesla home power system provides a promising future for the electric systems at homes. During the Tesla’s unveiling of the big solar roof in 2015, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced and unveiled the tesla home battery called the Powerwall.
It is a rechargeable lithium ion battery that is made especially for the new solar roof of the company.

The Powerwall Can Store Electricity from the Solar Panels
The Powerwall can store solar energy for as much as 6.4 kWh to 10 kWh. Though an average American uses about 30 kWh in a day, one Powerwall battery is enough to use for the basic daily electric consumption. The Powerwall stores even low rates of electricity from the solar panels for future use, and provides backup power when there is a current outage.
A Number of Powerwalls Can Be Installed Side by Side to Store More Electricity
The batteries are made to be modular. This means that you can install the Powerwall batteries side by side to set up your tesla home power system. A total of nine batteries can be installed side by side for more power storage. If you need 30 kWh in a day, you can install three Powerwalls to complete you tesla home power system.
The New Version of the Tesla Home Battery Powerwall Has an Inverter with It
Tesla made improvements on the new Powerwall and made an inverter along with it. With the earlier version of the Tesla home battery, homeowners needed to purchase their own inverters separately. However, today, those who want to purchase Tesla’s Powerwall can have with them an inverter with it.
The Powerwall Is Installed at $1,000
Starting January 2017, the company has begun to install the Tesla home power system to the homeowners who bought the batteries. It costs $1000 to install the units.
Aside from the Powerwall, Tesla Also Has a Powerpack for Bigger Establishments
In the conference, Elon Musk also introduces another technology wich is the Powerpack. The PowerPack is used to work and power up larger infrastructures such as business establishments.
Musk said that the Powerpack can store up to 100 kWh worth of energy what is generated by the solar panels. He also said that the entire US can be operated with an estimated number of 160 million Powerpack units.
